As you know, PBoC has had another liquidity squeeze at this time in 7 day repurchase with the rate jumping. This is the second episode in 6 months. Do you think the party leaders are using this as a management tool to try to rein in their growth of leverage? How safe are funds in ICBC or other banks and with no FDIC equivalent in China, how can Chinese protect their cash held in banks? If this cash crunch keeps coming back, it seems the shadow banking segment and WMPs may have a Lehman moment. This could have a big impact on China equities and a ripple effect to other Asian and developing markets.
